Relieve the Itch with Jewelweed
Jewelweed is a local plant that grows in semi-shaded, damp areas. We learned from an Indigenous couple that it is traditionally used to relieve the itch of poison ivy, and often grows near patches of poison ivy.
The sap from inside the stems and leaves of jewelweed, applied topically, soothes itchiness not only from poison ivy, but also stinging nettle and insect bites.
Jewelweed is sometimes called "touch-me-not." Its pretty orange flowers contain seeds, and if you touch or shake them, the seeds are expelled into the air.
Our limited-edition Ivy Soap is made with our own jewelweed infusion and can be used immediately after exposure to poison ivy to help remove the poison ivy oils and prevent a reaction.
Used on a poison ivy rash, Ivy Soap also helps to relieve and soothe the itch that comes with the rash.
